Helpless justice

The world seems to be crying out for justice helplessly these days. Justice for Aung San Suu Kyi. Justice for the long-suffering people of Iran. (And down with that ugly Ahmadinejad!) Justice for the Tiananmen democracy martyrs. Justice for North Koreans trapped in the tight hold of a funny-haired despot. (At least Marcos had a nice façade and wore finely crafted barongs.) Justice for Palestinians. (And gratitude for Netanyahu for finally recognizing the right of the enemy to exist side by side.) Justice for all those who ought to be the first ones bailed out in the economic crisis.

Back home, it’s justice for Rubyrose Barrameda and all victims of unspeakable crime. Justice for the Sumilao farmers’ protest leader (who was gunned down). Justice for Che-che Lazaro and all other harassed media persons. Justice for all militants killed, tortured, erased, deleted. Justice for Abu Sayyaf victims and other terror attack victims. Justice justice justice.

Meanwhile, less serious articles forwarded by nice people:

The Top 10 Iranian Movies to Netflix This Weekend: And what controversial cinematic history can explain about the country by Abel Kerevel. Note to video stores: Please make award-winning foreign films available. We're all tired of Hollywood movies. And so we won't have pirated stuff as last recourse.

Jazz: Has it been all downhill since 1959? by J.D. Considine from Saturday's Globe and Mail

Why is it difficult to learn Pangasinan? This is one of the many questions I've discussed and debated with my former officemate (we're both Pangasinense, at least partly). Now he is a resource person at the National Library.

The really important question that people are asking these days is: Why is Quark Henares not having a lipo despite having Vickie Belo for a mom? Must be either phobia or personal choice.
