Response to Arnold Clavio from 2006

Re: the Arnold Clavio scandal: http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/251681/sports/opinion/a-molotov-cocktail-of-sexual-harassment-race-and-social-media

I hereby unearth some old stuff, being too lazy to write my own thoughts on the matter.

All I can say right now is: Ho-hum!

What a tragicomedy this all is, for, as some observers said earlier, we should be getting angry at the right issue: sexual harassment!

Arnold Clavio's racism became a distracting side accident, a "weapon of mass distraction." We should be pursuing Cristy (Christy? Christie?) Ramos' fight instead.

I guess this is what Arnold Clavio was really saying behind his major faux pas: We should be angry at what the star athletes allegedly did against Ramos. And we shouldn't stop until we get the right results.

If we really love our women, if we are really feminist in a really 'progressive' way, then we will do all we can to milk the issue for the purpose of denouncing sexual harassment and advancing respect for the Filipina.

Oh, but the righteous anger will most likely die a natural death until we see a new issue to trifle with and miss the real point: the things we should be really angry with.

I mean, why are we railing at Arnold Clavio but not at the possibility of sexual harassment done against Cristy Ramos by some Azkals members? Is it because we are guilty of the same charge?
